Dr. Smith is a board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon as recognized by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Smith treats all conditions involving the bones, joints, tendons, and ligaments/connective tissues of the lower leg, ankle, and foot. Some examples of conditions commonly treated by Dr. Smith include fractures and athletic injuries of the foot and ankle, arthritis of the foot and ankle (including total ankle replacements), ankle instability (frequent ankle sprains), disorders of the Achilles tendon, deformities of the foot and ankle (such as collapse of the arch or “flatfoot deformity”), Charcot arthropathy (a special type of arthritis commonly seen in diabetic patients), and select conditions of the toes such as arthritis of the big toe, bunions (also known as “hallux valgus”), and hammertoes.
